WAIOTAHI.
The work of providing payable crashing stuff in this mine is a tax upon the manager, and requires every available source t» be thoroughly t ransacked; in driving towards the united shaft last month, for the purpose of securing ventilation, a disc6very was made of-a leader, which, on being followed, showed gold, and increased to a respectable size, gave great promise of a steady supply of good quartz. This, however, has vanished for the present, a soft clay slide having travelled with it and finally obtained the presence of quartz. There arc many leaders, the small ones carrying more or less gold, bufc their continuance cannot be depended on, being • rralic in their course, and broken in constitution, and point to the remedy for such uncertainty upon operation, by sinking to a level below the present working depth of 120 feet.
