September 4. A fresh addition has been proposed to the stamp duties, and on lawyers an annual certificate of £10, and Queen's Counsel £20. The extra stamps on policies have been expunged, and an annual fee substituted of £56_ on local marine companies, a fee of £25 "for fire, and £25 extra for foreign companies. Wheat is dull. In the Supreme Court, yesterday, (says the Lyttelton Times) His Honor Mr Justice Johnson called attention to th« fact that the motto over the judgment seat had been incorrectly" spelt. Instead of Dieu et mon droit it was made " Deiu et mon droit," the c in the firs,t word being placed before the i. His Honor expressed a hope that the error would be corrected without delay. . After throwing eight boys over the fence, out of a water-melon patch, a Clay County, Mo., woman charged them thus— " Now-, see 'ere, boys, you'll keep this thing up till ye get me riled."
