The principal portion of the sitting last night was occupied in private business. Some discussion took place on the Piako Swamp sale, but most of the remarks had {ill been goue over before. The result is
that a committee will be appointed to inquire into the whole affair. Copies of Russell's credentials were moved for and agreed to. A long discussion occurred over a motion by Mr Gibbs, to remove the restrictions upon the sale of ammunition, at least as far as regarded the Middle Island. Ultimately, on the strong rppre--Btehtations of the Native Minister of the danger of doing so, and on promise that he would endeavor to remove all cause of annoyance complained of, the motion was withdrawn. The House adjourned early.
