MOANATAIRI.
The large reef in hand, known as Heldt's, is turning out good/ payable stone; at present it is seven feet wide and likely to prove wider, as the hanging wall is not defined; sinking., has been effected for a few feet, and improves as it descends. Near the face of the reef-a strong lode has gone off on^the foot-wall side, which will be followed br-and-bye. The workmen are- near the vicinity of the Kedan shaft, which will be accurately laid off in a few dayrwhen a rise will be put up to connect with the shaft, and enable stoping to be carried on simultaneously with driving, opening up a large supply of quartz that will-give profitable employment for the battery. From the Eureka sectioa of the mine, driving and stoping from near the. surface contribute a fair portion of crushing stuff. JNo. 2 lode, from the 70 feet level, below the old battery, communication is expected tp be made in the cbursW" a day or two; this will open up a large block left intact, and afford easy means of supplying stone—*the cross-cut Jgeing direct from the old winding shaft",
