CURE.
The measuring up has shown the lode to be within 5 feet of the ■ Caledonian boundary, taking the centre of the ;lode, and the last shot put in has torn down some rich stone, bearing gold in the face. The fusion of the two lodes, Nos. 4 and 5 are now apparent, and warrant the conclusion that the perfect junction of goldbearing lodes will in this instance be no exception to the general rule, viz., that a rich deposit or manufacture of gold has invariably taken place* in such localities. The drives on the small cross-lodes towards the lied Queen are verging into one leader, both carrying gold, and doubiless will prove of value in their course, about 90 or 100 feet being within the Cure limits, with the stoping which may extend to, or near the surface. Driving on the foot-wall reef continues to show a good kindly stone, and gold not tinfrequently"seen; and the supply from stopes on IN os. 4 and 5 is; amply sufficient for the requirements of the Tararu battery. A small supply of specimens is'regularly deposited iv the strong box.
