Since the fire scare at the Government Buildings/water-pipes have been lain on to different portions of the House, so that it could now be almost deluged with water wiihout needitig-tb attach a hose to any pla.ee outside, the building.; It is stated that the net cost to the colony of the San Francisco service during 187Ji"was £9,980; of the Suez service £7,954; and of the Torres Straits service £107; .x,JJnder* T ..fqrjner N agreements the three services would have cost over £30,000.
