,* Saturday. The Native Chiefs held a council yesterday,, and unanimously agreed to forward a counter petition to Parliament, pvaying the House not to alter the native rights to rote. The petition is to be entrusted to Sir D. McLean.

The peace and harmony of the settlement is somewhat disturbed at the wholesale manner in which poison is being indiscriminately scattered about, endangering life, ■ '-■
