Wo would remind the public that the benefit performance in aid of the funds of tho Grahamstown Volunteer Fire Brir gade takes place this evening under the patronage of the Mayor and Borough the officers and members of the Shortland Brigade, and the officers and members of several of the Volunteer .companies. A capital programme is provided for the concert, and the dance thereafter should prove a source of attraction. The Grahamstown Brigade have strong claims .upon the sympathies,,of_ the .public, and the particular object proposed to bo benefited by tho performance is a most deserving one, being to procure funds for raising the roof of the engine house,,,sp.as. to provide a reading room for the firemen and to form! .the nucleus of a library. -The work-has been commenced, and it will have Jo. be, paid jfpr. We hope therefore^ to see & .goo&fhouse to-night as an earnest proof of the good wishes and approval of tho-public.* "1 i "( ;<',■ i; L \
