THE CURE.
! The prospects of the above mine are Tery^promising at the preserit time, and, with a certain section of the local press, have been the subject of frequent, almost diurnal, comment. It may, therefore, appear superfluous to say that the Cure Company are constantly getting specimens;that"N,6^ 3 r reef is' maintaining a very good appearance, and that, gold can be seen for 95 feet in the stopes. The mine is well opened up, the manager, Mr Crawford, having had in eye to securing: a regular quantity of crushing s tone. When last writing of this mine, I- drew attention to the fact that the directors had taken the Tararu battery," as !the" company could not be accommodated at the Prince Alfred. Since then arrangements have been made for conveying the quartz from the mine to the mill. : -The modus operdndi \i in this way. 'The stuff is hauled. through the Caledonian> shaft; from thence, it will be taken, through the Caledonian tunnel—for a long time unused—and tipped into the hopper of. the Caledonian battery, from which point it will bo conveyed to the main line,; and on to TararUj, At the present time all the passes are'full of quartz, so that the mine is, as it were,'somewhat choked up;'but by the arrangement for removing it, above related^ those;passes will soon be clekredi and be in a condition to receive 4 the quartz which is knocked .down. „ „
