Monday. Tho Bismarck winze on a shot of gold starts this morning. Very good specimens from the stopes on Saturday, with a good show in the face. About forty tons of stuff have been sent to the battery. The Tokatea tramway was damaged very much by the late- rains. There are slips all over tho yarious roads, and tho public ask who is to repair them, tho Government having suspended , work. Mining generally is likely to suffer severely from tho actiou of the Provincial Secretary. Mr Preece lost many logs hero by the breaking away of tho booms ; about 150 went out to sea.

The Avon cutter with cattle arrived yesterday, and left for Auckland this morning. Several pounds of specimens were obtained from the new find next the Conquering Hero ground. . '■" '■ Mr AllTrright, -provincial engineer, arrived on Saturday to'enquiro into the General Government Works. • ... ' This day. The City, of Auckland has over 7201bs of specimens in hand, and a good show in the face. The Bismarck has reported a large parcel of specimens from the stopes. Mr Preeco'a -logs are going to sea, great loss is anticipated. At Kennedy's Bay 800 logs wero got down by the last fresh. The Bob Eoy cutter has arrived and leaves to morrow. Another vessel is expected. At "V^hangapoua a very heavy haul of logs was got down to the booms. At Cabbage Bgiy a largo quantity of logs were got to the mill.
