rounds of the big guns, to wbich the improvements in the carriages have just been completed by Mr James Mackie. The firing was veiy successful except in that some of the caps appeared to be defective and one cartridge had to be drawn. Tli3 infantry were drawn up in line on the Goods Wharf, but the firing for some reason was not satisfactory. Owing to the-irregularity in discharging the rifles, the effect was anything but good.
