Wednesday. A laborer named Robert Fergusson died of suffocation from drink. He lay down drunk in a stable and drank till he died. ' The hospital is crowded, and large concrete additions are going on. Much sickness has been introduced by the immigrants. - It is rumored that the General Government are about to purchase the Washdyke Meat Preserving Works for a penal settlement for long-sentence prisoners. The Governor and Lady Normanby, Jhe Hon. Dr. Pollen, and Superintendent Bolleston are to arrive here on Tuesday next.
