"Wednesday.

The deficient water supply is again causing apprehension. Several mills have had the water withdrawn during, the week. There is no water all. The Lunatic Asylum, containing 200 inmates has been put to great shifts through the scarcity. The weather is beautiful.

This day. The City Council last night decided to cut off the water in the mains from five o'clock in the morning till nine at night. This stops all the mills dependant on the reservoir pressure. The two morning and evening papers are driven by water. ■ At the nomination for Waikouati for a member of the General Assembly the show of hands was in favor of George McLean. The poll takes place on Monday.
