The Governor holds a levee to-day, when addresses will be presented by the City Council, religious and.other bodies. A public ball takes place in the evening. Four accidents occurred in connection with the governor's reception, yesterday. Two members of the cavalry escort; were thrown violently from their horses and severely bruised, but no bones were broken. A trap containing a woman and two children capsized. The trap was smashed, but the occupants were uninjured. A woman was kicked by a horse while standing in the crowd, and seriously hurt. The following are the acceptances for the Autumn Meeting :—
The interest in the races is increasing. Considerable speculation on the Autumn Handicap. Tadmor came up with a rush in the betting yesterday. The odds now are^-Templeton, 2 to. 1; King Philip, Tadmor, and Castaway, 3 to 1; Parawhenua, 4 to 1.
