VITAL STATISTICS.
The death rate for the Thames district was rery high, last month—higher than the previous month, and the deaths registered include an unusual number of children: The total deaths registered for the Thames district for the quarter ending 31st March was 58, as follows :— January ... ,„ .. 10 - February ... ... , 23 March ...... ... 25 Total ... ... v.. '58 Of the deaths in February 19 were children under one year old," the causes, dysentery, convulsions, &c. During last month 19 deaths registered were those of children from one to three years of age, and the causes assigned were similar to those of last month, hnly one, death being attributed to rubiola or measles.- The total number of girths for the month of March was 43, and for the quarter 227; For these figures we are indebted to the i Registrar, E.H.
