PUMPING ASSOCIATION.
The manager of these works is in the satisfactory position of being able to report that the men are still engaged sinking. The nature of tlie ground does not change to any considerable extent, and progress is therefore not so rapid as it would be were the ground less hard. To show, however, that a mark is being made, the 16-inch lift is being prepared by Messrs Fraser and Tmne, which will be fixed in the shaft a fortnight from the present date. The mine is entirely free from gas. '
