(To the Editor, of the Evening Star.) : Sib,—-There are certain remarks in the Advertiser's leading article of ;S^turday last to which I must take exception. In reference to the recent examinations' at the various schools they say "a change is imperatively required in rsgard to the examinations. At present these* are generally conducted t»y members oif the local committees, who although every case anxious to further education, \ are not qualified to examine a school, which is a work requiring fitness and training. The present examinations are very much hap-bazard . . .*--'. and must cause dissatisfaction" to the teachers, who would nip doubt prefer to have their work judged of by competent persons." - j I decline Sir to allow it to go forth tp the public uncontradicted that the members of the Committee on fytyW

Knowing the inhabitants of Parawai I further beg to state that I could name fifteen or twenty persons and probably mere outside the Committee, who are fully competent to perform similar duties.
