Te Hira and Te Moananui Consent. ■ TTeare authorised to publish the following as a correct statement of the present position of the negotiations with the Natives for theX)hinemuri District: — j ■■-' Te Hira and Te Moananui, finding that the party in favor of opening the Ohineinuri district for goldmining had received strong reinforcements from "'.[ Ohinemuri and Whakatiwai on Sunday, arranged to meet Sir Donald McLean at jW. J-L Taipari's house yesterday evening. TheY represented to him that they were dark (porui) at the action taken bjr the majority; of their tribe and Mr Mackay, and, must submit. They, however, wished to haye time to breathe and consider the terms, and would then surrender the right to mine'for gold ; and in addition they doub'tleas, in their own minds, did not wish to publicly ydeclare their intentions, after" having persistently stated during the iait seven weeks, day afterrday,:that'sjha country should not be;,-opened.
