TOOKEY COMPANY.
The 400 feet level being driven north at the joint expense of the Tookey and Albion Co. has advanced into the Tookev claim 160 feet. The reef through the level ranged from 6 to 12 feet thick. It has at the face been cut off by a crosscourse and displaced by a lean to the east, not a vestage of stone being found in the direct line, although the strong flow of water from the east clearly proves the continuation of the lode in that direction. The arive has been turned at an angle to cut the reef again in advance. The Imperial Crown drive, towards the Prince Imperial shaft, has cut through the reef, and advanced 25 feet, making the entire distance 121 feet. The country in this drive, as in all the workiugs on this level, is _ easily worked, and good progress is being made. Since the connection of the 200 feet winze and the 300 feet level, the contractors in the winze are enlarging and timbering . it. A chamber is being excavated on the 300 feet level, preparatory to letting a contract for sinking a winze to connect the 300 and 400 feet' levels. The 300 feet level is being continued northward on the reef to the northern boundary. The reef from the 200' to the 300 feet level has varied from three to six feet thick.
