NOTICES TO MARINERS

In a New Zealand Gazette of the Bth instant there appear a number of notices to Mariners, received from the postmaster, Brisbane. The notices are founded upon reports from masters of vessels, and we publish them for tho information of all those whom tKey may concern. The master of tho ship Lady Douglas reports the existence of a Coral. Reef (Cumberland Isles) drying at low water, and extending from the westward of • the Southernmost " Sand P.D." to K. # Isle, and "Sand and Rocks to the eastward, and thus connecting the islet and Sandbank. Masters of vessels are 1 cautioned that in Walker Bay, rocks dry at low water, extend put to the edge of the shoal water shown upon the chart, their outer extremity bearing S.E. by S. £ S. from Monkhouse' Point, and their south-western limit W. \W. from the rocky point forming the south-east ;headland of the bay. Mr. J. H. Mayer, master of the Marehidness of! Lome, schooner, reports the existence of a sunken reef lying 1£ or 2 miles W.S. W. from tKe north-west point of Rattlesnake Island. The reef lies east and west, is of small extent, and is covered bj about two feet of water at low water springs. Capt. Goodall, of the schooner .May Queen, notifies the position of a sunken coral reef, namely, in latitude 13de£c. 30min. 30sec. S., longitude 167deg. 19min. 30sec. E., H miles from the western side of Vanua Lava, and bearing from the North Cascade S.E. by S. iS. The reef is about three quarters of a cable in extent, and has twelve fathoms water : all round it.
