POWER'S NEGLECT.
The following letter from Mr. T. E. Shaw—refused insertion in the Thames Advertiser — has been handed to us, accompanied by a request for its publication:— -:[ .; . ; (To the Editor of the! Thames Advertiser; per favor of the' Evening Star.) Sin,-—ln your remarks on my letter in this day's issue you state several things that are not in accordance with truth. First, that anyone that knows T. E. S. will be astonished and amused. Now, sir, any person who knows me may be amused, bat will not be astonished, because, being a working man, I am more liable to accident than the Thames A dvertiscr Shoo Lane penny-a-liner, and therefore should like to see the Thames Hospital that a man may go there knowing he will be properly attended to. You likewise would lead your readers to infer that I was instructed by Mr. Mcllhone, as Mr. Honiss knew nothing of me till he was informed by that gentleman. To that I give an unqualified denial, as I am always in the habit of acting for myself. I am awaro that the writer of tho comments on my letter has to write to order, and, consequently, cannot understand a man writing from conviction. In conclusion, I hope that the advocates of poor. Power will not let the matter drop until Dr. Lethbridge learns a lesson which may be useful to him in the future.—l am, &c, T. E.Shaw. October 19, 1874
