THE NEW EXCHANGE.

Some'time ago we noticed the new exchange being provided by Mr. Bowe' for the Thames brokers. This building is now completed, and there is no doubt that it will be a great public convenience. Originally the building was a store built by Messrs Ledger and Francis, but recently it was purchased by Mr. Kowe, who at once set about reconstructing it in order to render it a suitable place in which brokers and others could transact their business. The building was lengthened to nearly double'its original size, and skylights were let into the roof to afford additional light. Down each aide are a number of small Ibut conveniently arranged offices, fitted' with gas and otherwise rendered .comfortable for occupants; On one side 'the -offices' do not extend the whole length of the building, and. the space so left affords additional room for the casual visitors and regular attendants on 'change. At the end of the building is a staircase leading toa pretty roomy balcbriyiand t hende'to a commodious, room for the meetings of brokers at noon, in the evening, and on other occasions. Altogether the arrangements seem perfect, end quite equal to the requirements of the broking business of the Thames at present. : The alterations are from plans prepared by Mr. Hollis, and the work has been «xpeditiously and faithfully performed by Mr. Bobert Farrell, contractor. Great credit is due to Mr. Bowe for his enterprise in expending money to provide what was felt to be a, great want amongst the brokers, mining, agents, and share jobbers. ■ < -i
