THE CURE.

The appearance pf, the face qf the drive following the course of th© black leader has most materially changed since I was last down in the mine. The leader has how opened out for nearly 3ft thick, the whole of the stuff shot down being heavily impregnated with mundic, but in the centre of the face a rein continues, which if possible contains more base metals than the bulk of the stono shot down. Gold was; taken from this face on Saturday last; the; country the load .lies in has materially changed in .character although but a comparativly few feet have been driven, one of tho walls especially being distinctly defined, and out of _ the broken country described in a previous ■ report. From surrey r the Manukau boundary is now about 28 feet from the face of this drive, and if the same good progress is made during the next fortnight as in the last, the boundary will be reached in that time. Where the men are working, Mr. Crawford, informs me, is within about 5 feet of the direction of the shot of gold met with in an upper level. The face of the main drive has also changed, its aspect, being now full of leaders, with plenty of shining base metals. ,One of. these leaders is two inches thick. A very short time will "now tell whether the Manukau golden lode runs into the Cure—a,t least, so far-.as the black leader is concerned.
