THE QUEEN OF THE MAY.
A full meeting of the director! was held at the Company's office this morning, to receive the mine manager's report, and other business. Tbo report from the mine is most encouraging. As to the future of the claim, gold was left in the face of the main drive when the work was stopped. The contractors are now down 20ft. from where they recommenced to sink the shaft, and liave now 40ft to go in t-.ood country to obtain connection with otUer workings. It was resolved that an engine and poppet heads and all appliances be obtained, and that when purchased, that an engineer should be engaged to superintend the erection of the plant, so as to have everything in readiness by the time the shaft is bottomed. I understand that a road will be made from the mine to the flat —part of the expense to be born by the Queenof the May Company. Itisalso stated that a self-acting tramway will be erected. This company will have the fifth engine erected to work the Waio-Karaka flat mines.
