NEW SOUTH WALES.
Sydney, June 22. A strong feeling prevails against the present Education system as administered. A Secular Educational Bill will be proposed at next session of Parliament. The first meeting of its supporters was held to-day. The Mayor presided at a series of public meetings intended to advocate the object. Heavy snow storms have occurred in the southern districts. A man named Els worth was frozen to death near Caoma.
Kichardson formerly, general manager of the Joint Stock Bank, Sydney, lately managing director of the Mutual Life Company, died after a few hours illness. Six buildings at Pyrmont hare been burned.
Italian Opera season opens to-night. The season is not likely to last long.
The schooner Peri was wrecked at Botany Heads; crew saved. In the garotting case at Grafton, the supposed perpetrator has been arrested. Dr. Van Heckeren and a quack named Burdett have been remanded on a charge of procuring abortion, at Paramatta, on a resident named Hanks.
Public meetings continue to protest against Gardiner's release. The Macgregor leaves for Auckland on Saturday. The trial trip after repairs was very satisfactory. Newcastle. Sailed : Memento, for Dunedin, on the 19th.
