THE BRIGHT SMILE.

There was a really rich find of specimens in the 290 ft level, during last evening and this morning shifts in. the reef cut during the sinking of the shaft. The drive is in about Bft seaward. The gold as shown in the stone from the reef, is really rich in appearance; and is in that banded ferm so peculiar to the field. It is supposed that the reef from which it came is the one known in the higher level as the No. 2 reef; and it was this morning resolved for the future to designate it by that number. This reef lies in a good—■ easily worked country ; is about 4 feet thick and is a compact body of stone; likely to cleave its way. As to the other reefs in the mine, they have on the present block only been winzed, down, which work has been completed down to the bottom, or shaft level, and will be driven on with all energy. After this work has been completed, all hands will be employed blocking out. The lodes generally are looking strong and well. The men in No. 3 drive, have holed through to the winze on No. 2 lode. It is expected that the No. 1 reef will be cut by a cress drive from the shaft, in about a week.
