MART REPORTS.

MORTON AND CO. Messrs Morton and Co. report for the week ended February 20, as follows:—■

Heavy consignments of furniture were sent in during the week, and a very successful sale was held in the mart on Friday. A big entry of poultry was penned, and keen demand was experienced. On Thursday we held a clearing sale for Mrs wchoiiar, at Mere Mere Street. There was a big attendance, and spirited bidding resulted in every lot being cleared at satisfactory prices. Fruit was in keen demand, and supplies generally v T ero inclined to be scarce. The first crop of peaches is finished, and early consignments of freestones made their appearance during the week. Supplies of pears were light, and good j/ices were realised for all choice. lines. Plums were over-supplied, the chief demand being for dessert varieties. Heavy consignments of tomatoes were received early in the week, and prices dropped fairly, low, but firmed up' later in the week when supplies were scarcer, Prices realised last week were:—. Apples, Cox’s orange 11/6 to 12/6, Worcester Pearmain 7/6 to 10/6, cookers 3/6 to 6/6. Pears, W.B.C. 5/-' to 6/6 half case, 9/6 to 11/6 case. Peaches, crates 6d toi 8d lb, cases 2Jd to 6Jd lb. Apricots, 4Jd to 7id lb. Nectarines, crates sid to 7d, cases 4d to 6id lb. Plums, crates 4d, cases, dessert 2id to 3id, jam Id to 2d lb. Tomatoes, choice 6d to 9d, medium 4d to 7d, small and seconds lid to 3id, Nelson grown 4/6 to 7/case. Cucumbers, hothouse 4id lb, outside grown 2/6 case. Californian lemons 32/- to 35/-, grapes lOd lb. Vegetables.—Marrows 2/6 to 3/6 dozen, French beans 3d to 4d lb, cabbage 2/- to 3/- dozen. Produce.—Honey, sections 8d to 9d lb, 101 b tins 6d to 7id lb, bulk 4d to 6d; table 'potatoes 10/- to 12/sack, 5/- to 6/- cental; pig potatoes 1/- to 3/- bag; onions 7/- cental; wheat 20/- to 26/- sack; oats 16/to 18/-sack; bran 13/6, pollard 15/-, chaff-6/- to 7/- sack. Poultry.—Hens 3/- to 6/6, roosters 4/- to 6/-, cockerels 2/9 to 6/6, ducks 7/6 to 8/- per pair.
