LIBEL ACTION FAILS.

CLAIM AGAINST "OBSERVER.” By Telegraph—Press Association. HAMILTON, March 3. An interesting libel action was decided in the Supreme Court tonlay before Mr Justice Stringer and a jury of i2. Plaintiff was John Henry Hannan Auckland, and defendant was Wm. Blomfiekl, printer, publisher and proprietor of the "New Zealand Observer.” The claim was for £3OO damages for alleged libel contained in an article stating that Hannan was unfit to hold a Justice of the Peace Commission in view of recorded convictions and other conduct. Hannan did not give evidence. The jury found that there was no libel, and returned a verdict for defendant, with costs and disbursements against Hannan.
