WEDDINGS.
HARRIS—HIND. On April 7th, a very pretty wedding was solemnised at St. Mary’s Church, Timaru, when Kathleen, only daughter of Mr and Mrs F. Hind, Otipua Road, was married by the Rev. G. V. Gerard, to Douglas Harris, “Dankeith,” Methven, son .of Air and Airs G. Harris, Christchurch. The church was beautifully decorated with lilies, Michaelmas daisies, and autumn foliage. Mr A. AV. Ah Vine presided at the organ. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a beautiful French frock of white georgette, beaded in crystal and silver. The front of the skirt was composed of tiny pleated frills, and long georgette sleeves were worn. Her embroidered tulle veil was held in place by a wreath of orange blossom beads, and she carried a bouquet of cream and palest pink hothouse flowers, and maidenhair fern, tied with long streamers of narrow ribbon. The bridesmaid, Aliss Dorothy Harris, Christchurch, wore a sweet frock of powder blue georgette, made with a flared skirt i and godets of gold metallic lace, and long sleeves of georgette caught in 1 tightly at the wrist, a bandeau of 1 blue beads and tiny French flowers and pleated tulle was tied behind with long blue ribbons, which fell to the hem of her frock, and bouquet of pink lilies. Little John Tizard and Betty Rudge were page and flower girl respectively. The latter wore a dainty frock of palest pink georgette, with godets of tiny frills, and a bandeau of pink ribbon and flowers, and carried a posy of pink asters. Mr McDonald was best man.
After the ceremony a reception was held at the residence of Mrs A. C. Pringle, Church Street AVest. Airs Hind received her guests wearing a becoming frock of black satin niarocain with printed fiorder and wide panel back and front of finely pleated georgette, and picture hat of black panne velvet and gold lace. She carried a beautiful bouquet of autumn tinted dahlias and foliage. Airs Harris, mother of the bridegroom, wore black crepe marocain, black satin hat with osprey mount. Her bouquet was of scarlet roses and asparagus fern.
. Those invited and present included Air and Airs C. A. S.-Hind, Mr and Mrs Harris, Christhurch, Air Jack Harris, Airs and Misses Pringle, Mr and Airs Steel, Air and Mrs AV. Thomas,'Air and Mrs Cockroft, Air and Airs C. G. Crerar, Air and Mrs Kemshed, Air and Mrs Horwell, Mr and Airs Duncan Kennedy, Air Alan Harris, Mrs J; Stewart, Mrs F. Alacartney, Mrs Robert Macartney, the Rev. G. V. and Airs Gerard, Misses S. and G. Ruflge, Scott, Aimers, K. Thomson, Hendry, F. A. Till, M. Peterson, AI. and A. AlcCasltill, Palmer, M. AV. and V. Tizard, and Messrs C. Gillies and R. AVilson.. Later when Mr and Mrs Harris left on their wedding tour the bride wore a frock of saxe blue crepe de chene, beau.tifully beaded in gold and bronze, and smart fawn hat, with touches of blue and a fur coat.
SUGRIJE—BENFELL. A very pretty wedding was solemnised at St. Joseph’s Church, Temulca, on Wednesday last, when Irene, daughter of Mr Win. Sugrue, was married to Gilbert Charles Benfell, of Dunedin. The Rev. Father Seymour officiated, and Miss Coughlan presided at the organ. The bride, who entered tho church on the arm of her father, wore a beautiful gown of ivory satin, patterned in crystal heads, with georgette sleeves. Her tulle veil, which was arranged with the customary orange blossom, fell in misty folds about her frock, and she carried a beautiful bouquet of white hothofiso flowers and maidenhair fern. The bridesmaid, Miss Ellen McGettigah, friend of the bride, wore a dainty frock of floral georgette, with cream picture hat, and carried a bouquet of beautiful autumn shaded flowers. Mr A. Goodman carried out the duties of best man. After the ceremony the bridal party and guests adjourned to the Coronation Tea Rooms, whore the reception was held. Later in the day the happy couple left en route for the north, amidst the good wishes of their many friends, the bride wearing a smart frock of cinnamon brown repp cloth beautifully embroidered in Oriental shades, with chic hat with tonings to match, and a. handsome fur coat, which completed her toilet. ROGERS—KELLY. One of the prettiest weddings, and one of great interest to the < ountr.vside, was solemnised on April Gth-, at St. Augustine’s Church, Waimate, the contracting parties being Gladys, second daughter of Mr and Mrs J. Kelly, “Rosedale,” Studholmc, and Willie-, eldest son of Mr and Airs W. Rogers, “Loch Ness,” Studholmc. The officiating clergyman was the Rev. Canon Cocks, and Miss Alum ford presided at the organ. The bride, who entered the church on the arm of her father, wore a beautiful frock of cream brocaded crepe do chine, with satin trimmings, and finished with an exquisite pearl ornament on the shoulder, and caught at tile side with orange blossom trimming, which had been worn by the bridegroom’s mother. The_ veil, worn over the face, was held in place by a coronet of pearls and clusters of orange blossom on either side, and was hiv.ulsomely embroidered with silver true lovers’ knots and horseshoes, A shower bouquet of pale pink and cream flowers put the finishing touch to a pretty toilet. The bride was attended by her sister, Miss Lily Kelly, who looked dainty in a frock of helio brocade, with quaint little trimmings of helio and green, and a black hat trimmed with hc’io en suite. A shower bouquet of helio dijisies and autumn tints completed her toilet. ■ Tho bridegroom was attended by his brother, Afr Andrew Rogers, who carried out tlm duties of best man. Air and Airs Kelly afterwards entertained their guests at a sumptuous wedding breakfast, where the usual toasts were honoured. Later in the day the happy couple left bv ear for their wedding tour, the bride travelling in a model tunic frock of navy gaberdine lightly braided in red and gold, and a navy toque to match. \She also wore a grev fox fur, the gift of the bridegroom. The bridegroom’s gift to the bridesmaid was a wristlet watch, and tho bride’s present to the bridegroom a gold albert. In tlie evening a very enjoyable time ■was spent in dancing, singing and cards, till the small hours of the morning.
