Erank Wilkinson, M.A., of the Canton Mission, left Timaru- for tile' south yesterday. Mr J. Caugliley, Director of Education, .passed through .Timaru yesterday on his way to Waimate. ,Thc Prime Minister (Hoik- J. G. Coates) .arrived at Auckland yesterday, anti will .address the Eden electors to-night. Mr W. Drake, postmaster .at Otuhuhu,. is at present on a Visit to Timaru. Commissioner Hoggard (head of the Salvation Arliiy in New Zealand) arrived in Timaru yesterday from the south. Mr J. E. Arnold arrived in Christchurch from Greymuuth, and left yestefday en route lor Wellington, via Kaikorai, Sodden, and Blenheim. Mr J. Macaulay (Albury) and Mr IK'Macaulay (Milford) were passengers by yesterday’s first express for Dunedin.

Mr H. P. West, traffic manager, New Zealand Hallways (Dunedin) and Ml- G. Grcig, business agent lor Canterbury and Otago, came to Timaru from Dunedin by the second express yesterday. Mr T. Hughes (chairman) and Mr G.‘ W. Armitage, of the Canterbury Education Board, came to Timaru by til’s first express yesterday, and bpent tiio day inspecting various schools in this district. The Earl of Stradbroke, retiring Governor of Victoria, with the Countess of Stradbroke and their son. Viscount Dulwich, arrived at Auckland yesterday afternoon by the Aorangi, on their way to Vancouver. They tvel-o the guests of the Governor-General ‘Sir Charles Fergusson) at Government Mouse at night, and will resume their voyage to-day. (Press Assn). Colonel J. K. Watson, King s Royal ■Rifles, arrived with Karl Stradbroke, and will stay at Government House Until ho leaves with Sir Cnarles Fergusson for Cook Islands. Among those who will leave by the Aorangi .to-day for Vancouver aie Harold Beauchamp, who will visit Canada, the United States, Great * Britain and the Continent; Dr Malcolm „T. MacKachern, the American surgeon, who has been inspecting New Zealand • hospitals; tho Hon. AV. Pcmbcr Reeves, who has spent five months ill the Dominion; and Mr F. W. l’urkcrt, chief engineer to the Public AA orks Department, who will make an ex.tended tour abroad.
