HOCKEY.
WINCHESTER LADIES’ CLUB.- ' The annual meeting of the AYinehester Hockey Club was held in the Library on Thursday evening. The president, Air L. H. Orbell, presided over a good'attendance. Miss C.. Aladdrcn, lion. secretary, presented the annual icport and balance sheet. Tho balance sheet showed a credit balance of £22 lls Id. The president congratulated the club on its financial position. ’1 lie report stated that the membership. wap; 38, including 21 players. Last •season , the Club affiliated with the South Canterbury Hockey Association, and competed in several matches, with a fair amount of success. At tho annual tournament held in Timaru, both the senior and junior teams acquitted themselves with credit. Owing to the wet weather, no outside matches were played. A social and the annual ball were well patronised. The thanks of the club were due to those who had helped''the club financially: to Air J. Anderson, .who acted as coach, and assisted to make the net; to Air C. AleBratney, lor marking and ■measuring out tlic. ground; to Mr H. Philp, Unattending the lights; to Air D. .1). Wall, auditor; to' the owners of cars for conveying players to the matches; and all thoseavho had assisted the club. The following officers were elected : President, Afrs -I. C. South ; vice-presi-dents. Aloises T. H. Langford, L. H. Orbell, J. L. White, J. K. Scott, T. Harrison, R. Aladdrcn, and T. A. De Renzv: boil sec., .Miss C. Aladdrcn (reelected); committee, Afrs W. R. Pearce. Alissos I. Louden, G. South, B. Wilkes, K. Scott, and D. South : trustees, AL's C. AlelSratney and Aliss C. Aladdrcn ; auditor, Air /). D. Wall; coach, Air J. 1,. Al'liitc; delegate to S.C.H. Association, Air G. Hughes 'I he matter of getting the* ground ready, was left in tho hands rtf Aliss Aladdrcn to arrange. Opening day was fixed for next Thursday, at 2.30 p.m, A vote of thanks was passed to AUss C. -Maddron (secretary), and to the retiring president, Mr Orbell.
