FRENCH WAR DEBTS.
PLAN FOR REPAYMENT. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. PARIS, April 8. Newspapers publish details of a scheme which the Government is said to be considering for a national appeal for patriotic voluntary subscriptions to pay off France’s debts. Tlie nucleus of the movement will be a “Committee of national propaganda,” presided over by one of France’s heroes, whoso name is synonymous with victory. The committee will be non-political, and non-party, and will appeal throughout the country for voluntary subscriptions. “Le Journal” says the financial ball will he set rolling by members of the Government themselves. Every penny of the proceeds will be devoted to paying off the debt as early as possiblo.
