DIAMOND JUBILEE.
PRESIDENT HINDENBURG HONOURED. By Cable—Press Association —Copyright. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association BERLIN, April 7. The interesting diamond jubilee of President Hindenburg’s entry into tlie Prussian Army was celebrated at the Presidential palace by a simple, appropriate ceremonial. Replying to a congratulatory address, President Hindenburg dwelt in melancholy, painful remembrance on “our proud old Army, which not only honourably fulfilled its purpose of defending the Fatherland, but was an educational institution of the entire nation.” He was confident the present army, despite the paucity of its numbers, would cultivate similar virtues, and thereby prove the stronghold of the national force, together with the guarantee of the maintenance of tho soldierly qualities of the German nation.
