The Niagara sailed at noon, with 400 tons of freight and 26 passengers, including Mr L. B. Beale, of Vancouver, the promoted British Trade Commissioner for New Zealand, bound for Wellington. Interviewed he said he expected an increased interchange of New Zealand and Canadian products. Tile Board of Trade surprised Mr Beale in his cabin, and presented bim with a gold watch in appreciation of his outstanding work for tne expansion of trade.
