CASES AT HOKITIKA.
By Tuleffraoh—Vro«s Association HOKITIKA, April 8. A charge against the licensee of the Railway Hotel of selling and exposing liquor after hours, was dismissed. The evidence showed that following a fire at Bat.v’s garage on a recent Sunday morning, the licensee, whose premises adjoin the destroyd building, and which were in grave danger for a while, invited the firemen and these ass'st nit. to partake of refreshments. Arising out of the same circumstances, a. barman and a young man were convicted, the former for exposing liquor, and the latter with being found on licensed premises without legal excuse, the Magistrate holding that a person cannot enter a hotel even at the invitation of the licensee during prohibited hours, for tlio purpose of having a drink.
