BAGS OF SILVER. / By T«le^raph—l're&is Ai>aoci*t!«n DUNEDIN, April 7. I This morning, four bags of. isilveil were found in Hallenstein Bros.’ right-of-way in Dowling Street, at th® back of the old Mutual Stores building. Other loose silver was scattered about tlie ground. The labels.,On the .bags , .indicated that the money belonged to David Livingstone, who controls several side-shows at the Exhibition, .and.gn auctioneer’s business in i'rincess Street. Tho money was in two small, bags, and a suit, case ..and a leather, bag with _ a shoulder strap. ~ The police are inquiring into the matter. ' 11 _ ' Livingstone, when approached, said that tile money represented takings at the Exhibition, and added that -the takings were £pr more than One day. He said that he could not account for tiio finding of tho money at that spot, adding, however, that his place had*, been broken into. Humours had it that the bags had contained about £IOOO, and that sinister bloodstains liad. been discovered Oil them. Such statements were unfounded, as a reporter saw. th® bags at the police station, and there were no signs of blood. The contents, too, had been somewhat over-estimated.
