The annual meeting of the AA'aimatc Golf Club was held in the Agricultural and Pastoral Society’s rooms on Fru...y evening. The president (Air C. u. Holmes) oceupiou the chair, and presided over a fair attendance of members.
Tlie animal report and balance sheet were adopted, the latter showing the club to be in a strong financial position, with a credit of £lB9 4s Hid at the hank, and assets totalling £SOB 17s (xl, with no liabilities.
The resignations of Messrs Rawnsley, Lash and Powell were accepted with regret. Tlneo new members wore proposed. The election of officers resulted as follows : —President, Air C. G. Holmes (re-elect-d) ; vicepresidents, ALessrs Foster, Fitch, Fraser and AVallace (re-elected) ; club captain, Air F. T. AVallace (re-elected); secretary, Mr li. Weir; treasurer, Mr C. S. Hood (re-elected) ; general committee, Aiessrs Black, Tweedy, Scott, Fraser and Reilly; handicap committee, Aiessrs Holmes, AVallace and Reilly; ground committee, Aiessrs Wallace, Reilly and Black; auditor, Air T. E. Parry (re-elected).
it was decided to hold the, official opening on the I.sth April. A special vole of thanks was passed to the Ladies’ Club for assistance rendered during the past season, and the sum of £5 5s was also voted to the ladies for trophies. In presenting its report, the committee congratulated members on another successful season. Although a number of resignations w,ore received from members leaving the district, the election of new members brought the total almost up to that cf the previous season, the number being 39. The usual Club competitions were held during the season, and on the whole were keenly contested, particularly the I final in the Francis Cup Competition, j The following are the results: —Club champion, Air R. G. Scott; consolation competition, Air AV. P. Black; Francis Cup, Air E. AV. Travers; 3 best gross medal cards, Air R. G. Scott; bogey, Air T. A. Wilson ; approaching (closing (day), Air L. G. Reilly; medals, Aiessrs Reilly (2). 'Travers (2), Scott, AVallace, I Borric, Wilson, Black and J. I). Wilson. The usual inter-club matches I were played against Timaru and Oaiuaru clubs, and, as in previous years, proved to be most eiijoyahlo fixtures. Finance —The Club was in a sound financial position, the credit balance at the hank being £lB9 4s lOd. The balance of the purchase money in connection with the sale of the old links, £407 12s 7d had been paid, and this had resulted in converting the debit at the bank into the credit mentioned in the accounts. The assets total £SOB 17s 6d, with no liabilities outstanding. At tho end of last season, a special meeting of members of the club was called to consider tho question of continuing play throughout the summer months. Alter duo consideration, it was resolved to do so, and to make arrangements for keeping the greens in order during those months. A number of enthusiasts have played fairly regularly, hut the proposal generally has not received tho ■support anticipated As a result 'of the attention to the course, however, tho greens especially are in first-class order, and play during the coining season should be under better conditions than ever before. Coach —The services of Air B. J. Smith were again available during the season, and proved of much assistance to those who took tuition. Tho committee hoped that similar arrangements will be made with Mr Smith lor the coming season. Championship beard. During the season the committee decided to obtain a suitable board on which to record in the pavilion the names of tlie winners of the club’s championship. A good deal of work was entailed in obtaining tho required information dating back to 1906, but this is now available, and it is hoped that the hoard may be in position for the opening day. Tho committee again wished to express its thanks to the Ladies’ Club for .the valuable assistance rendered during tho season, particularly in connection with the entertaining of visiting teams and also to tlie oreon-keeper, for. the excellent result” obtained on the links, and to the donors of trophies. _______
