ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL.

SOUTH CANTERBURY ASSOCIATION. ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meting of the South Canterbury Football Association was held in tho Y.M.C.A. rooms last evening. Mr E. Smail presided over a large attendance of delegates and members. ANNUAL REPORT. The fourth annual report stated that the committee wished to thank the clubs for the manner in which they' carried on during the season, three' teams only- coming forward; also tocongratulate Rangers Club on winning both the Fraser and Gave Cups. Threo teams competed for the Fraser and Cave Cups, consisting of 65 members. Ashburton Sub-Association also affiliated with five teams, but owing to unavoidable circumstances we were not able to do much for them during the season, but hope to make amends during the coming one. During the year 25 ordinary and one special meetings wore held, with an' average attendance of six, made up as follows: —Messrs Begbio 19, Sneddon 11, Angus 23, Sherry 4, Drummond 5, Smail 22, Watson 3, D. Bell 18, Johnson 4, R. Bell 6, Anderson 14, Jarvis 17, and secretary 24. During the year the following resignations were received : —Messrs Drummond, Sherry, D. Bell, J. R. Sneddon; and the following were appointed to fill the vacancies Messrs J. Jarvis, R. Anderson. R. Bell, and C. H. Johnson. Tho finances of the Association are in a slightly better condition than at the beginhing of the year. Wc started with a debit balance of £2. and finished with a credit of £l2 Is, but there are two accounts outstanding that will absorb most of it. Some of the playing gear will require renewing this season, especially' the goal nets, which have done duty' for four seasons, and are past repair. Only one representative match .was played, the team travelling to Dunedin to play Otago for the Peter Dawson Cup, and being defeated by 5 to 3. The thanks of the Association are due to tho Timaru Borough Council for grounds, to those who kindly' lent cars on various occasions, and also to Mr C. Martin for auditing the books. The report was adopted. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The election of officers resulted as follows: —Patron, Mr G. J. Wallace; president, Mr W. T. Young; vicepresidents. Messrs D. Bell, W. Stockdale. C. H. Johnson. P. C. Vinnell, E. J. Rolleston, M. .T. Dny’le. 0. Hutchison. A. Eraser, F. Cave; treasurer, Mr W. Angus; secretary, Mr E. Smail; assistant secretary’, Mr .A. Foden; auditor, Mr A. C. Martin; management committee, Messrs A. Thompson, Doherty, J. Jarvis, T. Sherry, E. Begbie, F, Williams, and K. Drummond. GENERAL.. It was resolved that it he left in the hands of the president, secretary, and assistant secretary’ to arrange a place of meeting. The chairman stated that the Chatham Cup regulations had been altered so that any team in New Zealand could compete. Tfc was resolved that the Association place on record its hearty appreciation of the services rendered by’ the retiring scrretnrv, Mr E. A. Burn. Messrs Doherty. 1). Bell. G. Green, J. McDonald, and E. Smail were appointed a sub-committee to reviso the rules of the Association. It was resolved that an endeavour be made to arrange a match with an Ashburton team at the commencement of the season, and that the Association’s cuns ho open for competition among the Ashburton teams.
