On AVednesday night, AL's A. Grant (“ Aigantighe, Wai-iti Road), gave a farewell bridge party to Air and Airs W. Thomas (North Street), who will leave shortly for Ilomo. Airs Grant wore black headed marocain, and Alts Thomas was m fawn marocain and georgette, embroidered in russet tints, and a lovely shawl to match. Aliss Dorothy Clieyne Farnie, ALA., in charge of the secondary department of the Geraldine District High School, who is leaving AYcllington on Tuesday for an extended trip to America and Europe, has been presented with many souvenirs from her pupils and ex-punils. Prom the senior pupils of tile secondary department she received an ivory mounted “Chubby” umbrella and a suede writing ease, and by tile exSecQiidarv Pupils’ Association, of which Aliss 'Farnie is tile patron and founder, she was presented with a handsome i ivory toilet set of brushes, mirrors, etc.. I while numerous presents were received from individual pupi's. .Miss, Farnie carries with her the best wishes of her pupils and the educal ional public of; Geraldine and surrounding district., who undoubtedly recognise her sterling worth, and appreciate the .strenuous work, done by her in raising the secondary department, over which she presides, to the very front rank of j District High Schools in New Zealand. A very enjoyable kitchen evening was given to Aliss Beattie in the Hilton Hall last week, on the eve of her approaching marriage, by Alesdames Charles Pletcber and ' Sheldon.
