FOOTBALL.
PLEASANT POINT CLUB. At the annua! meeting of the Pleasant Point Football Club, Mr L. Laurenson (president) was in the chair. Tho president referred to the disi trossing motor smash on tho Point road in which two members of the club were run into. He hoped that all would make a speedy and complete recovery.' Tho secretary was instructed to write to the parents of Doug. Christie, who was very seriously injured, and express the members’ wishes that ho would make as hasty and complete recovery as was possible. The annual report referred to the loss sustained by the club by tbe decease of {lie late members, V. Wall, R. Paisley, and T. E. Lyle. No vory groat successes were attained during tho past year by tbo teams, although both junior and fourths finished near tho top of their respective grades. Reference was made to the number of severe accidents sustained by players at the outset of last season. These seemed to put a damper upon the younger members, which took some time to throw off. However, it was pleasing that the unfortunate members had made complete recovery. Socially, tho club had experienced a very successful year. Two dances had been held in aid of injured players, and £2O had been cleared and handed over. Tho annual ball had been a very -popular event, and had met with a full measure of success. Thanks were due to Mr Gosling, who had supplied the teams with fruit for all games during the year; to tho Ladies’ Committee for their help at socials; and to all supporters for their assistance during the past year. The balance sheet showed tho finances to bo in a very healthy state. The receipts were £77 15s, while expenses amounted to £65 14s.
In moving the adoption of the report and balance shoot, the president complimented all members upon the way they struck together in spite of several disadvantages last year. The election of officers resulted as follows :—Patronesses, Mesdames J. Mazo, F. Dossett. and H. -Dossett; patron, Mr Fred Morrison ; president, Mr L. Laurenson; club captain, Mr Fred Dossett; lion, secretary, Mr G. W. Wakefield; lion, assistant secretary, Mr J. Dossett (all re-elected) ; committee, Messrs A. Higgs, J. Munro, A. Felton, C. Struthors, and A. King; social committee. Messrs Higgs, Munro, Felton, and Wells; selectors. Messrs R. Strothers and J. Dossett; delegates to Rugby Union, Messrs AVakofield and Dossett; auditors, Messrs G. T. Borrell and G. AA r . McCarthy. Subscriptions were fixed at 5s over 18 vears, and 2s 6d under 18. The question of practice nights and an opening game were left to the committee. Dissatisfaction was expressed at tho curtailment of the lower grades foothall each year. Members considered that two full rounds should be played, arid that the advent of representative games should not affect the playing out of the rounds of the lower grades.— Tt was left to tho delegates to bring .the matter up at the annual meeting of the Rugby Union. The president moved a hearty vote of thanks to all supporters who rendered help during tho past year.—Carried unanimously. ✓
