COMPETITIONS SOCIETY.

EXKCUTI YE MEETING. A mooting, of tlic executive of 1 lie Tiniaru Competitions Society was held last evening. Present' —Mr G. J. Wallace. (chairman), Jlcstlanics A. Moys, and ,T. Yenning, anil Medirs A. .Hay, W Youn<r. W.’Gutter, D. Sinclair, G. G. Baker, Hawkins, F. 1. Ryan, Bruce, J. Knislie, and Begbie. Bei’ore commencing the business ot the meeting, the chairman took the opportunity oi introducing the now secretary, Air G. Johnson, whom he wished every success in his new appointment. Mr Johnson .suitably responded. For the Revision Committee, Mr Baker reported on the work done in revising the'syllabus, and explained the alterations and additions that had been made. On the motion of Air G. J.Wallace, it was resolved that no special prizes be allowed unless given through the Society. In regard to the choir contest, .'Mr Hawkins moved that '/to avoid having only two competing choirs in .that contest, a first prize bo only awarded 'in the c-vent .of at'least three choirs .competing, a lid <a second prize only if at least four entries are, received. The motion was carried. It was resolved that the recommendations of tho Revisionarv Committee regarding /alterations to schedule and rules be adopted. • It was resolved that tho syllabus/be printed in book form, and 'that the question .of arranging for tho printing be left in tho ’hands of the secretary. After some .discussion it was resolved that the Education Department’s 'physical instructor be. written to, .and ,asked to submit a table ; pf physical exercises suitable'lor competition by boys, and girls. • ~. Dcmrtions'of a first and second prize from'Mias Edgar ’and'‘Air AV. Young respectively 'W elocutionary „class<M were accew4*i, Hfttes of thanks being accorded- itba tfftnors. Mr F. ‘Shaw wrote accepting the position of dancing judge.
