HASTINGS, March 24 A good, drenching rain visited the district this morning, marking the break of a long period of dry weather. AVELLINGTON, March 21. Two point 45 indies of rain fell in 24 hours, ended 9 a.in. To-day is fine, but was cold and windy this morning. The wind changed from north to south between midnight and 1 a.m., and in that hour 80 points of rain fell.
