In the House of Representatives, Mr M. Charlton (Labour leader) moved i,I)G adjournment of the House to draw attention to the necessity for the appointment of local bodies to expedite a settlement of industrial disputes m the coal mining districts. He said that according to reports there was a likelihood of a hold-up in the coal mining industry <>l New South as the result of the dejay in hearing grievances. He added that he did not want this to happen, but there was a limit to the patience of the men, and if a strike occurred, the industrial provisions of the Crimes Act would be brought into effect. He advised the Government to get into touch with the men’s representatives, and endeavour to avert a crisis. Mr Bruce, in his reply, said that after the -Easter adjournment, the House would have an opportunity of considering industrial questions. Regarding the present trouble, lie would endeavour to have a coal tribunal to deal immediately with particular disputes, which might lead to trouble.
