Reporting to the Prime Munster (Mr Bruce) oil the encdiiragement rf industrial science, Sir .Frank Heath, (Secretary of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research of London) recommends that i.lie present, Australian Commonwealth Institute of Science and Industry should be reconstituted at a cost, riio liivt year of £40,000, second year, £50,000, and ultimately £IOO,OOO. Sir Frank Heath says that less scientific work has been done in 'Australian dairying than in any other branch of agriculture. He urges the necessity for attention to better and more cheaply produced wool. He declares that Australia should bo not only self-supporting in timber, but a largo exporter. Sir Frank Heath favours that tho Institute be established under .tho special scientific officers of - tho ngri-' culture section, attached whereto should, in the first instance, he a dairy research institute, also food, forestry, fuels, and fisheries sections, and later such other sections ao may be deemed necessary.
