THE RHODES CUP. With a handicap of eight goals, the Pareora A tram defeated the Christchurch A team (scr) in the first round for the Rhodes Cup, played at Mngle.v Park on Afonday afternoon. The final scores, including handicaps, were:—Pareora 12 goals, ‘ Christebure 1 : 10. The teams wore as follows: — Christchurch A (scr) —D. Gould (back), Tabu Rhodes (3), R. U. Johnson (2), G. F. Hutton (1). Pareora A. (eight goals)—A. •S. Elwortliv (hack). C. 1,. Orbell (3i, C. Miller (2), W. 11. Orbell (1). The game was fast from the start, and the Pareora, team played with much more combination and dash th.-rj on Saturday. The Christchurch poiiio' were on the slow side, showing the effects of the vpceut North I:-l.iti:I Irip, when six gam'os were played in one week.
