MURDER TRIAL.
STARTLING EVIDENCE GIVEN. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. ROME, March 18. Startling evidence was given at the resumption of the Matteotti trial at Chiti. Two clerks testified that they saw the actual kidnapping of the man by four others, whom they were unable to identify, one of whom hit the victim in the stomach, and then-threw him into a motor car and drove off. Nells Quilice, ex-head of the staff of the newspaper “Corriere Italiano,” testified that Fitipelli allowed him to drive home in the former’s motor car, which Dumnie drove. The car was left at Quilice’s garage. The following morning Quilice discovered the car damaged tho Upholstery cut, the window broken and a pair of journalist’s scissors lying inside the car. He was dissatisfied with Fitipelli’s explanation, so he retired from the paper. The Fascist Counsel, Farmarci, formally disclaimed any connection between the Fascist Party and Fitipelli. -
