The Berlin correspondent of the “Morning Post” states that tlio Taxing Committee of the Reichstag decided that all wages above eighty marks monthly will pay a ten pcf cent, income tax, which will be deducted before payment, a small allowance being granted when the workman has a wife and-children. Following is the scale:

Income tax. £4OO ....... 9 per cent, £BOO . . . ... 11.9 per cent. £IOOO ...... 13£ per cent. £2300 ...... 23 per cent, £SOOO 30 per cent. £50,000 up . . 39 per cent,
