CHRYSANTHEMUM SHOW;/' The Ladies’ Guild*of St. Paul’s odist Church . are' to bo. heartily con.-' gratulated . upon the success ,-i they achieved by holding, for the first time, a chrysantJiemum snow, which was formally opened by the Mayor (Mr G. Dash), on Saturday afternoon, in the Temperance Hall. The display of blooms, both in baskets and bonds, was well arranged, and the colourings and autumn- tints ■‘were delightful. The prize for tlie premier nloom in the show was. awarded to -Mr E. H. Wright,, , who v exhibited a gorgeous "William Turner,” wlncli, well formed md beautifully shaped, was almost as big as any other two. During the afternoon and, evening, the hall was thronged with critical sight-sec<rs who wore highly pleased with the excellent display. A produce stall, well stocked with generous gifts, including geese, ducks, and mutton, and a cake stall, were freely iiatronised while the afternoon tea tables .also did a.thriving business. The 1 judge, Mr H. Edginton, of Timaru, displayed several floral decorations which w'ere greatly admired.
