A sensation, was caused in Cork owing to a, thousand Federation troops, ’also : Civic Guards, encircling a wide area, , and closely inspecting people and premises. It is ■ rumoured that the movement was connected with the shooting of unarmed British soldiers in Queenstown two years ago. Twenty-five persons were arrested and subsequently released.
