At the International Council of Women, the recent activities of the Australian and New Zealand delegations included the following discussions: relating to laws affecting women and children, in which Australian practices were quoted, as for example, infant and maternal care, In which New Zealand was leading; tree planting campaigns, to beautify cities, the Australian delegation expressing the opinion that the natural beautification of Washington could he carried out at Canberra. . The meetings have concluded.

Temporarily side-tracking further resolutions from the Peace Committee, the Council of Women considered the resolution of the Educational Committee, urging the National Council to devote “special attention lo the educational conditions in regions where groups of different nationalities are living together, and that in the schools in such districts, every aspect of culture, educational character and genius of each nation, be represented.” The resolution provoked consider able discussion. England, seconded by Australia, failed in an attempt to secure withdrawal, and the motion was carried on the viva voce vote. The Council adopted the second section of the disarmament resolution, calling the attention of members to the Protocol on the subject, known as the Geneva draft, drawn up by the Fifth Assembly of the League of Nations.
